Struggle - Struggle Hand

Struggle is a Netflix original documentary film about a Polish sculptor named Stanislav Szukalski who could be considered the Michael Angelou of the 20th century.

The work you see here is only a digital recreation of Szukalski's actual work. The sculptures exit in real life and are majestic.

The client provided the team at Elastic with photographic and video reference as well as scan data for us to use in the recreation of the sculptures. We used ZBrush as our main tool. The scan data served as a base for us to be able to match the shapes and proportions of the real sculptures. The mid and high frequency details were washed away or non existent due to the quality of the scans. Our main task as modelers and sculptors was to recreate and add back as much of the original detail back onto the digital version.

These digital versions of the sculptures were than used to create breathtaking sequences used through out the entire documentary.
